ISPW selected to streamline software development

Support for distributed developers with CollabNet's Subversion and IBM's RDz

November 16, 2010, Calgary Canada – ISPW is pleased to announce strong sales in the 3rd quarter. This endorses ISPW's strategy of fully integrating complimentary 3rd party products to give customers more flexibility while creating a single point of control for cross platform software change and configuration management. Support for CollabNet's Subversion and IBM's RDz (Rational Developer for System z) have made developing software for combined mainframe, Windows and Unix applications easier than ever.

Case 1 – Large US insurer replaces in-house system with ISPW

Looking for a replacement to centrally manage software development on z/OS systems with later expansion to the distributed world, a large insurance company selected ISPW over all other major SCM suppliers. ISPW's ability to deploy changes directly to remote z/OS systems as well as Unix and Windows servers were important elements of the selection. Ease of implementation, breadth of function and comprehensive RDz support were also major considerations.

Case 2 – Large Canadian bank wishes to move z/OS development to Windows

Needing to prepare for the next generation of programmers and wanting to transition seasoned developers to new platforms, the bank acquired ISPW's new interface to IBM's RDz product. RDz helps off-load mainframe development, while ISPW automates software lifecycle management tasks such as versioning, integration of utility programs, change tracking, approvals and deployment. From a single Eclipse interface, developers can access the correct tool to assist them with analysis, development and testing, right through to deployment on the desired runtime systems. This solution simplifies the software development and management by streamlining application updates, reducing change-related programming errors and facilitating compliance audits, while reducing overall costs.

Case 3 – Mid-Western Bank implements ISPW / Subversion for cross platform development

A profitable bank in Kansas City has been quietly implementing one of the most complete cross platform development and deployment environments. With banking applications that have back end systems running on z/OS and a mixture of UNIX and Windows servers, the company needed a way to streamline development and maximize up time. ISPW integrates mainframe and distributed code into one package for approval and delivery to hundreds of regionally distributed servers. With one command deploy and back out capabilities the bank is now able to develop and implement complex applications while saving time and effort as compared to older solutions.

Paul Kuszyk, President of ISPW says "Supporting RDz and Subversion with ISPW gives our customers a functionally rich environment that really delivers on the promise of optimized systems development – on every platform. At the same time we recognize that, in many companies, the mainframe is still at the heart of serious business applications and will be for many years."

The major win for most companies is reducing the cost of applications maintenance leaving more funding for building new systems. Streamlining the development process cuts unnecessary work while eliminating many points of failure. Simply put this means more success, more often, with less effort.
